Benfica defender Antonio Silva has been described as a ‘target’ for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Midfield will be a priority position for the Reds at the end of the current season, but reinforcements could be seen in other areas of the pitch depending on player departures.

According to a recent footballtransfers report, Silva has been identified as an interesting player alongside Goncalo Inacio, Josko Gvardiol and Jarrad Branthwaite.

The report adds that Chelsea are likely to compete with the Reds for the 19-year-old centre-back, while suggesting that Liverpool could benefit from their “good relationship” with Benfica.

Liverpool have confirmed the number of tickets that will go on sale for next month’s Champions League game at Real Madrid. Due to the ongoing construction works at the Bernabeu, the Reds have received a reduced allotment of 1808 tickets costing £62.24.

Merseyside Police are sending a clear message ahead of the derby

Merseyside Police have made clear they will not tolerate chanting referring to Hillsborough’s distaer during tonight’s match at Anfield.

VAR official with Premier League ax as late sub for Liverpool-Everton

Premier League official John Brooks has been taken off the VAR for tonight’s fixture between Liverpool and Everton after he mistakenly disallowed a goal in Crystal Palace’s draw with Brighton on Saturday.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side believed they had taken the lead thanks to Ecuadorian defender Pervis Estupinan, although his attack was called off following a subsequent VAR review. It later emerged that the offside line had been drawn on the wrong defender, James Tomkins, as opposed to Palace’s last man in defence: Marc Guehi. Had it been done correctly, the goal would have stood.

Brighton then issued a statement about it after the game, insisting they had received an apology for the misjudgment. “As PGMOL confirmed to the club last night, a serious mistake was made yesterday afternoon when Pervis Estupinan failed to acknowledge his goal at Crystal Palace,” the club said. “The lines that were drawn in the VAR room to determine whether Pervis was in an offside position were drawn incorrectly and the goal should have stood. Although the club are very disappointed by the error, they have accepted PGMOL’s apologies and will not comment further.”

Good news Liverpool 'will give Jurgen Klopp the funds he needs to rebuild this summer' after a dismal campaign...

Klopp’s message before the derby

Jurgen Klopp has stressed that Liverpool ‘have to fight with everything’ in today’s Merseyside derby against Everton.

The Reds are desperate for three points after a run of dismal results and what better than tonight’s game to get the season back on track.

Klopp wrote in his program notes for tonight’s game:

It’s a derby so we have to fight with everything we have, but only in a positive way. We have to fight to play football and nothing else. It’s a game of passion, but it can’t be used properly. Nothing else makes sense.

I’ve said before that these games can sometimes be too intense and I know people don’t always want to hear that, but it’s true. Intensity is part of what we do and the reality is that we couldn’t do anything without it, but we have to bring our other qualities to the table as well, otherwise we’ll only make a tough game harder.”

Neves won’t close the door on the Premier League club at the highest level

Ruben Neves won’t rule out a move to another Premier League side this summer as speculation persists over his future.

The 25-year-old has one year left on his current contract with Wolves and is yet to commit to extending his stay at the West Midlands club at this stage.

Neves was linked with a move to Barcelona in the January transfer window and a recent report from Spanish outlet Sport suggests the player’s agent Jorge Mendes met with La Liga leaders this week to discuss his client’s next steps and “listen to offers”. ‘ who crossed his path. The report adds that Barcelona have been given “priority” in the race to sign the Portuguese midfielder, having already held talks with the player. In addition to Manchester United and Newcastle, Liverpool are also linked with Neves, who has been with his current employers since 2017.

He would “preferably” leave the Premier League, but “he won’t close the doors to a top club”. Whether or not the Reds will make a move for Neves, a player they were once described as their admirers during his days at Porto remains to be seen.

Liverpool injury update: Latest injury update and return dates for Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk  and Fabinho

Diaz is desperate to help the Reds salvage the season

Luis Diaz has stressed he’s been dying to return to action as Liverpool try to salvage their season.

The Colombian winger hasn’t featured for the Reds since suffering a knee injury against Arsenal in October and was a major setback for Jurgen Klopp’s struggling side.

On the importance of returning to the pitch, he told the Telegraph: “First of all I want to be back and after that I know there are a lot of games before the end of the season and I want just helping the team with my football.

“I saw what Darwin said and yes it’s important to be back. But it’s not just me. The idea is to come back and help the team with all my friends and teammates. I want to come back to do a good second half of the season.”

Calvin Ramsay setback

Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay has been on the sidelines for a long time.

The Reds right-back arrived from Aberdeen last summer but he barely made an appearance for Jurgen Klopp due to repeated setbacks.

The Scotsman appears to be nowhere near being available for Jurgen Klopp, with the Telegraph saying his latest injury is ‘prolonged’.

Osimhen paired

Liverpool and Real Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. That is according to Spanish publication Fichajes, which says the Reds and Real, who meet next week in the Champions League, are the latest two clubs to enter the race for the striker.

The Nigerian has scored 17 goals in 18 league appearances this season as his Napoli side come close to winning Serie A. Luciano Spalletti’s side are on course to win their first Scudetto since Diego Maradona this season, with 16 points ahead of Inter, second in the standings.

According to a recent report from Italy, Napoli are hoping to extend Osimhen’s current deal for at least a year, until June 2026, to protect themselves from interest. While Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted this week that Osimhen was not for sale. Will Spearman has ceded a key role to Liverpool

Liverpool swung Will Spearman ahead of Dr. Ian Graham appointed new director of research at the end of the season.

Spearman joined the Reds in 2018 and was the club’s chief data scientist, essentially acting as the deputy Dr. Graham acted. But he has just been promoted to replace his outgoing colleague.

Dr Graham will leave the club in May, having resigned from his post in November after being appointed director of research at Anfield in 2012.
