Darwin Nunez appeared to taunt Marcus Rashford during Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds tore up Erik ten Hag’s side in one of the most remarkable Premier League results ever, thanks to six second-half goals after Cody Gakpo put them on a point at halftime. time.

Liverpool’s redesigned front line with Nunez, Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all scored twice before Roberto Firmino struck a late seventh.

And Nunez, who has now scored eight Premier League goals this season following his £85million summer transfer from Benfica, appeared to ridicule United striker Rashford after his second goal.

Stepping away to celebrate his powerful header, the Uruguayan placed his index finger to the side of his head – something Rashford has become synonymous with during his superb form, which has hit him 17 times since the World Cup. The celebration took the world by storm with tennis star Novak Djokovic, England cricketer Jofra Archer, along with United teammate Jadon Sancho and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka all seeing the gesture as of late.

Sportsmail has previously reported on how celebrating is comparable to shutting out outside noises and being mentally strong.
Nunez’s celebration of Liverpool’s fifth goal tackling the England striker’s signature move came amid Rashford’s personal struggles during the match.

He had scored in nine of his previous 10 Premier League appearances before playing a carte blanche in the match at Anfield.
The result puts Liverpool in a prime position in their run at the top this season despite several problems this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side are fifth in the league but are just three points behind Tottenham Hotspur and have played one game fewer than Antonio Conte’s side.

United, meanwhile, remain third, but their quadrupled hopes have taken a major blow – with the Red Devils now 14 points off table top Arsenal.

Do you think Nunez was trying to mock Rashford by doing that?

The result didn’t flatter Liverpool’: Graeme Souness says Liverpool fully deserved the 7-0 win

Graeme Souness believes the 7-0 victory was more than a fair score for Liverpool who absolutely beat old rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s team put in a performance for all ages with braces from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah and goals from Roberto Firmino.

The first half was competitive with the hosts breaking through just before the break, but the second half was complete and absolute domination.

Liverpool were sensational in the second half, I told them to win the second half, but I didn’t expect it” Souness told Sky after the match.

Manchester United were runners-up for everything. The result did not flatter Liverpool. Liverpool are raging. United were knocked down by a Liverpool side who were there.

“Spectacular performances today. I just imagined Liverpool today because it’s a tough place for United. Today’s crowd would not allow Liverpool to lose this game. This is the best player to play, make a bad pass and the fans are behind you. The team gave something to be happy about.

“They can’t get away with this. It was a really solid performance today. You have to watch when Manchester United looked threatening in the first half. In the second half, they were first for everything. It was like having an extra man.

It was old Liverpool. Very very impressive. When Liverpool have been at their best over the last five years, the only word that comes to mind is intensity. That has been missing this season.

“Everyone has games when things don’t go their way, but you have to fight. It must be a problem to play for United who get a lot of publicity, far more than any other football club. People with minor personalities can get carried away.
