Rashford breaks his silence with provocative message after Man Utd lose 7-0 to liverpool

Marcus Rashford broke his silence on Manchester United’s humiliating 7-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

Rashford started up front at Anfield but failed to influence play as his side were beaten 7-0 by the up-and-coming Liverpool.
Man United went from behind to half-time with clean sheets as they imploded in the second half conceding an impressive six goals, with Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all on the scoresheet.

The painful defeat has Erik ten Hag asking questions about his team, while Rashford talks about the defeat on social media.
He tweeted: “Wish I could make a game today to try and fix things. The result is the result and we cannot see beyond it! We can’t let it dictate our season. We have to trust the process and stick together.”

Rashford has been in sensational form since the 2022 World Cup last year. He has scored 14 Premier League goals this season but failed to improve his tally against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Not a Man United player reacting to the crushing defeat as David De Gea took to social media after the result.
“I know these messages don’t go down well on a day like this,” he wrote. “It was a catastrophic moment for us and these results should not happen, especially in the journey that we are all on.

“We have a duty to this club, a responsibility to represent the crest, but we have a lot of opportunities to look forward to, a lot of games are coming fast and we have to focus on that.”

And after the match, Luke Shaw apologized while admitting that “standards” have dropped since the Carabao Cup triumph.
“Out there on the pitch, I felt embarrassed for us players, for the fans who supported us and watched at home,” he told Sky Sports.

“Seeing the second half…I can only apologize for that. We, as players, have to own it, have to stand up and accept that it wasn’t good enough.

“It was completely unacceptable. Our standards have clearly dropped since we won that trophy [the Carabao Cup seven days earlier] and we haven’t been ourselves in the last few games.”

“We have to find the good things we did before and bring them back because this hurts a lot and what we did in the second half is really unacceptable.

“We didn’t show personality and mentality. For a great team to come here, we have to do better.”

The loss to Liverpool marks Man United’s sixth league loss as they remain in third place.

They return to action on Thursday when they meet Real Betis in the Europa League before continuing their league campaign against Southampton on Sunday.

88th min: GOAL! What are we witnessing!?

Roberto Firmino makes it seven as he sneaks the ball in at the near post – you couldn’t have a more popular scorer given the announcement about his future this week.

Delirium at Anfield.

83rd min: GOAL! It’s six!!! What a performance from Liverpool!

Salah pokes home from close range after De Gea palms one away and Anfield erupts yet again. Who could have seen this coming even at half-time?

James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Stefan Bajcetic take to the field, replacing Jordan Henderson, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Fabinho.

Nunez joins Gakpo on a hat-trick as he produces a brilliant flicked header into the far corner after leaping highest to meet a cross.

Can United salvage some pride in these final stages?

66th min: GOAL! Salah makes it 4-0!!!

Liverpool’s chance seems to have gone when Nunez fails to pick out Elliott on the break, but the Uruguayan is first to the loose ball and pokes it into Salah, who smashes an unstoppable right-footed effort in off the bar.

This is some performance from Liverpool.

64th min: Liverpool just controlling the ball now and not giving United a sniff and the home fans are loving every minute of it.

56th min: Robertson fires a right-footed effort just wide with De Gea rooted after being teed up by Gakpo.

Liverpool want four.

50th min: GOAL! Liverpool are three up and cruising against their bitter rivals!

Gakpo doubles his personal tally in nonchantly dinking the ball over De Gea from the tightest of angles after being slipped in behind by Salah.

The Dutchman had in fact started the move at the edge of the Liverpool box, feeding his teammate to turn Martinez inside out before laying on the goal.

47th min: GOAL! Liverpool double their lead through Nunez!!!

It all starts with a sloppy Shaw pass deep in the United half and, though the visitors have several chances to get the ball away, they never manage it before Elliott smashes a right-footed cross in to give Nunez a simple header from close range.

United with it all to do now.

46th min: Liverpool get the game restarted.

HALF-TIME: The whistle sounds at the end of a great football half-time

Chances on both sides and lots of intensity but Liverpool have the advantage thanks to Gakpo.

That comes from Cody Gakpo sneaking in behind and on a Robertson headed pass that completely rips United’s lines before going past Varane and hammering the ball into the bottom corner.

A very good goal.

The parties in the far corner were quickly broken up.

40th minute: Fernandes sends a free kick into the Liverpool penalty area from a promising box, but it is straight into the hands of Alisson.

27 mins: And another great chance for the visitors, this time for in-form man Marcus Rashford.
Unfortunately for the Englishman, he squanders it by failing to make good contact with a perfectly weighted Shaw ball in the back.

26 minutes: Huge opportunity for United!

Fernandes hits a cross from Dalot with a header from the back post but he sneaks into the wrong side of the far post, slapping Alisson.

23 mins: Elliott and Robertson trade passes before the latter throws in a begging cross to be tapped by Nunez, but a brilliant challenge from Martinez denies the goal. 19 mins: Nunez takes a whirlwind try past the post after the ball goes down friendly but the flag is up and it wouldn’t have counted.

16 mins: Pinball in the box Unuted after a Robertson free-kick but it just won’t go down for Liverpool who can’t fire before the visitors clear

10th minute: Liverpool dominate possession in the early stages and close when Elliott sees a shot blocked right in the penalty area.
United’s threat was also underlined, however, when Antony forced Alisson into a save on his right after clipping the wing.

5 minutes: before kick-off: The teams arrive to a deafening welcome. It’s a huge game and there’s an atmosphere to it. 1st minute: Manchester United launches the match and attacks the end of the Kop in this first half.
