Will he return to Arsenal? Balogun’s decision will be made at the end of the season

Players are being loaned out to grow and show why they should be considered for a return to their parent club. Arsenal star Folarin Balogun on loan is what he really risked.

The 21-year-old has emerged as the best striker in the French league, having scored 16 goals and 1 assist in 26 league appearances for Stade de Reims. His goal-scoring prowess has placed him third on the Ligue 1 top scorer list this season, behind Kylian Mbappé and Jonathan David; in particular, he has more goals than Neymar and Messi.

These staggering stats have seen the Arsenal star emerge as an in-demand striker leading up to the transfer window, with Football Insider stating in February: “A source said Arsenal expect ‘half of the Premier League’ to face an offer for Balogun this summer, with a return abroad for the youngster is considered less likely.

So will Arsenal take advantage of the chance they have to raise money from Balogun, or will they keep it and hope for big rewards for his sharpness in front of goal?

According to Football Transfers, Mikel Arteta isn’t even thinking of cashing in on Balogun; what he’s thinking about is whether to keep him or loan him out again next season. Football Transfer compares Balogun’s case to Saliba, writing: “Arteta has already shown in the past that he is willing to be patient with young players by loaning them out until he feels they are ready to move to Arsenal.

“This is exemplified by central defender William Saliba, who has spent three different loan spells in Ligue 1 at Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille…

“He is ready to take a similar approach with Balogun, although the final decision on whether the player will return to Arsenal for 2023-24 or stay at Reims won’t be made until the end of the season.”

Arsenal may wish to add a striker this summer; to do so, they may be able to save millions by putting their trust in Balogun.
Personally, I think Arteta will wait to see him in action in the pre-season before making a decision.
